Vocal Festival

Over 65 North High singers participated in our annual Vocal Festival today. Many thanks to our three clinicians, Mr. Lee Kesselman, Ms. Janet Reynolds and Ms. Michelle Wrighte, for providing our students with many amazing learning moments. It was a tremendous day of music sharing and growth.

DGN Choir Concert Tonight!

The calendar says it's Winter. Recently it has felt a lot like Spring.  Let's call it a "Sprinter" Choir Concert!

Join us in the Clarence Johnson Auditorium at 7:00 PM tonight, Thursday, February 23, for a wonderful evening of choral music that features the A Cappella Choir, Treble Choir, Concert Choir, Freshman Choir, All-Access Choir, and many select vocal ensembles.  

Nothing beats being there in person, but if you or a family member cannot be at DGN this evening, you can always share the concert with us virtually.  Click Here to be redirected to the High School Cube . IL-ACDA Women's Choral Festival

Congratulations to the DGN Treble Choir, who participated in the IL-ACDA Women's Sing and Share Festival. This festival featured 20 women's choirs from the state of Illinois. Each choir had the opportunity to perform and work with a clinician, in addition to listening to and learning from the other choirs' performances. The day ended with a mass choir rehearsal and performance featuring over 600 young women! Congratulations on a wonderful day of music sharing and learning!

Stealing Like Artists #WeAreDGN #99Learns

Today was our opportunity to work collaboratively in all curricular Music and Visual Art courses to make connections to Austin Kleon's "Steal Like An Artist," which is DGN's One-Book-One-School selection for this  year. The choir students had huge creative successes in reinventing our North High Alma Mater, and afterwards  presented their music, poetry, visual and performance art!

Sincere thanks to ALL who auditioned. I appreciate all the hard work and preparation you put into your auditions. It was wonderful to hear you all sing, and I hope you all were able to learn and grow from the audition experience. You all made the decision extremely hard to make. I am excited to work with EACH of you this year in Concert Choir!
