Choir Shoe Order Form

Hi Choir Families!

In an effort to maintain the professional stage appearance of the choirs at North High, a policy has been established regarding footwear.  Each student will be required to purchase a pair of concert shoes. If students have shoes from last year that fit, there is no need to order a new pair!

Please click here for the choir shoe order form and more information! Fittings will happen at the end of next week. Payments are due FRIDAY, AUGUST 31st. Please contact us if you have questions or concerns!

Welcome Back - Choir and Orchestra Parent Meeting!

Welcome back to all choral students returning to North High School! Welcome also to those of you who are new to the choral program at DGN. We’re all very excited to have you on campus and are ready for the start of a super school year!

We are excited to see you tomorrow night at 7 pm for our Choir and Orchestra Parent Meeting. At the meeting, we will be going through our choral handbook, which you can find linked on the right column of this blog. This handbook has two basic purposes. First, it is a summary of our expectations of you as a part of the choral music program. Second, it accompanies our fine arts calendar, with all of our concert and rehearsal dates already included so that you can mark your family calendars NOW. Remember that concert and dress rehearsal attendance is an important part of your grade in choral classes.

Ultimately, we want to stress the importance of good communication among you, your parents, and us. We will provide visual reminders of upcoming events as they approach during the year. Your job is to keep us informed of any issues that may prevent you from attending rehearsals or concerts as soon as you are aware of them, in the rare event of a personal or family emergency. Remember that choral singing is a cooperative effort, and we function as a team. We need all of our team members together if we are to maximize our potential!

In a very special way this year, you will have the opportunity to connect to the tradition of fine choral music at North High School, and your efforts will write yet another chapter in this long, proud history. We, as your teachers, are looking forward to an exciting and rewarding year. We want this year to be one of your fondest memories of high school.

Looking forward to seeing you all tomorrow evening!

Congrats DGN Vocal Festival Participants!

Congratulations to over 60 choir students who participated in our annual Vocal Festival today! Three guest clinicians worked in a masterclass format with our singers during each of our scheduled choir classes, providing a wonderful learning opportunity for both the soloists and the audience of choir students! 18 students were selected to compete in a "run-off" performance after school, and a small group of these students will be selected by our clinicians to sing alongside peers from DGS at our District Honors Recital in March.
We are so proud of our students' hard work and marvelous performances! Special thanks to our voice teachers for helping our students prepare for this event, and to our clinicians, Dr. Robert Sinclair, Mrs. Beth Best and Mrs. Robyn Wiper, for a wonderful day!

Welcome Ball State University Women's Chorus

The DGN Choirs had the honor of hosting the Ball State University Women's Chorus on Wednesday afternoon! The Ball State Women's Chorus was selected through competitive audition to perform at the ACDA Central and North Central Division Conference on Thursday morning in Chicago. We enjoyed an incredible preview of their upcoming performance and our A Cappella Choir had the opportunity to sing and collaborate with the Women's Chorus. Many thanks to Dr. Kerry Glann and the Ball State University Women's Chorus for making the stop in Downers Grove to share their beautiful music!
